Detainee escapes from Caldwell County Detention Center

Authorities are looking for a man who escaped from the Caldwell County Detention Center late Saturday night.

Officials say around 11:25 p.m. on August 10, 23-year-old Brian James Adkison escaped from the Caldwell County Detention Center in Kingston.

Authorities say he was barefoot and wearing white boxer shorts when he escaped.

Adkison fled the jail on foot in an unknown direction. He is described as white male with brown hair and brown eyes, six feet tall and weighs 180 pounds.

Police say Adkison was being held on numerous charges, including rape and kidnapping.

In June, Adkison was the subject of a large manhunt at Lake of The Ozarks.

He was accused of kidnapping a 23-year-old University of Missouri Student in Caldwell County.

During that incident, Adkison allegedly injured the woman, then dropped her off at University Hospital in Columbia. The search for Adkison involved 19 different police departments, three different SWAT teams, helicopters and dogs.

Adkison was apprehended after a woman in Morgan County noticed a broken window on one of her rental homes and called 9-1-1.

Anyone who has information about Brian James Adkison is asked to call the Caldwell County Sheriff's Department at 816-586-2681.

Officials consider Adkison dangerous are telling the public not to approach him if he is spotted.

Columbia Police say Adkison is known to frequent the Columbia area.
