Dense fog and icy conditions impact Tuesday morning commute
A Dense Fog Advisory was in effect for the entire mid-Missouri area until 10 a.m. Tuesday morning as widespread fog with visibility less than one quarter mile was expected.
The advisory included all counties in central Missouri.
Fog combined with below freezing temperatures led to a concern of patchy black ice on area roads, sidewalks, and elevated surfaces.
Drivers were encouraged to use caution during the morning commute. Temperatures were expected to warm above freezing by mid-morning as the dense fog lifts out of the area.
Some public safety officials reported black ice heading into the morning rush hour.
