Missouri State Highway Patrol and the Moniteau County Sheriff's Department are trying to determine how a badly decomposed body ended up in southern Moniteau County.
Sergeant Kevin Hunter tells KRCG13 law enforcement found the body around 7 p.m. Saturday evening. The unidentified human remains were found in Southern Moniteau County southwest of Russellville.
Hunter said investigators are not ruling anything out at this time, including foul play. However, he said there is not enough information to make a determination of how the person died.
An autopsy is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, the conclusion of which will help investigators determine what course of action to take next.
