Dangerous heat through the weekend

The heat wave continues for Mid-Missouri this weekend as temperatures will remain nearly 10 degrees above normal each day. Afternoon highs will reach the mid-upper 90s with nighttime lows falling only into the mid 70s. With the warm, moist Gulf air in place, it's going to feel more like the lower 100s every afternoon. The heat index may peak as high as 105 degrees, if not even higher.

A Heat Advisory is now in effect for the entire viewing area except for Phelps and Pulaski Counties. Make sure to stay hydrated and take frequent breaks if you're going to be outdoors. Sunstroke, muscle cramps and heat stroke are all possible with these conditions. Be sure to keep an eye on pets, young children and the elderly as well.
