      Crews search river for woman's body

      Update: Tuesday, Sept. 6 at 6:10 p.m.:

      Water patrol troopers have found the body of a Jefferson City woman who went missing in the Missouri River.

      Sgt. Jerry Callahan, an official with the Highway Patrol TMs Water Division, said officers pulled Sara Giboney TMs body out of the river Tuesday afternoon near the 127.5 mile marker. That TMs about 2.5 miles south of the Osage River.

      Giboney went missing in the early morning hours of August 26. Officials say she was wading in the water at the Noren river access near Jefferson City when she went under and didn TMt resurface. One friend was with her at the time.

      Sgt. Callahan said alcohol was involved and is listed as a contributing factor in Giboney TMs drowning death. An autopsy has been scheduled.

      Update: Wednesday, August 31st at 9:45 a.m.: Water Patrol crews continue to search the Missouri River for the body of Sara Giboney.Highway Patrol officials said the search is now focused in St. Charles. Crews are doing surface checks with boats and a plane.Crews will continue thier search in St. Charles until Friday. If Sara's body isn't found, the search will continue into the weekend at an undetermined location.Search crews said the river's swift current and the elevated river levels have made the search difficult.

      Update: Friday, August 26th at 12:05 p.m.: Officials are calling the search for a missing woman in the Missouri River a recovery effort.Crews are still near the Noren boat ramp searching for Sara J. Giboney. Police said just before 2 a.m., she was wading in the water and went under. Update: Friday, August 26th at 9:20 a.m.:

      The Jefferson City Police Department has released the name of the woman who was swept underwater as Jefferson City resident Sara J. Giboney.Officers said she went under just before 2:00 a.m. Friday. Jefferson City Fire Department and Missouri State Highway Patrol Water Division boats have been searching the river for the woman.Jefferson City Police are investigating the circumstances of her entering the water.

      Water Patrol crews are searching the Missouri River near the bridge in Jefferson City for a woman troopers fear drowned overnight.Troopers said around 1:30 Friday morning, a group of people were wading in the water around the Noren boat ramp, when a 31-year-old female went underwater. A friend tried to assist the woman, but wasn't able to bring her back to shore.Emergency crews arrived on scene at 2:40 a.m. Friday. They've been searching the surface and dragging the river bottom trying to locate the woman's body.Her name hasn't been released pending notification of the family.
