The Columbia Fire Department is investigating a Sunday afternoon fire.
Crews were dispatched to 3717 Wayside Drive at 1:49 p.m. in response to a residential structure fire.
They arrived four minutes later and found smoke coming from the back of the home.
Crews were able to bring the fire under control in under five minutes.
The incident commander requested that Columbia Water and Light inspect a gas meter that had been damaged in the fire.
Authorities say the fire was closed from discarded smoking materials.
Damage is estimated at $10,000.
