Cooper County Clydesdale ranch opens to public

You now have the chance to meet the world-famous Budweiser Clydesdale horses.

Starting tomorrow, visitors will get a behind-the-scenes look at the Budweiser icons at a ranch near Boonville.

The Clydesdales have put out a warm welcome for group tours of their breeding facility. Warm Springs Ranch is the home to more than 100 Clydesdales. Anheuser-Busch officials originally wanted to keep their breeding facility a private operation. They opened it up for group tours because of public demand.

We have mares," General Manager of Clydesdale Operations Jim Poole said. "We have folds. We have stallions. We have, actually, some of the geldings that star in some of the most famous TV commercials ever filmed. There are lots of things for the people to see.

The ranch allows you to get a behind-the-scenes look at how they breed Clydesdales. Every year, between 30 and 40 Clydesdale foals are born at Warm Springs Ranch. State and local dignitaries held a grand opening celebration of one of the largest Clydesdale breeding facilities in the world.

Economic development in rural Missouri is almost at a standstill," Republican State Representative Kenny Jones of California said. "This is a really good tourist attraction and economic development tool that we are proud to have here in Cooper County.

Guided tours of 15 to 60 guests by reservation only last about 90 minutes. Each tour includes a meet-and-greet with the Clydesdales, a stop at the gift shop and much, much more.

Warm Springs Ranch will be open every day at 10 a.m. beginning May 1 through October.
