Convicted felon caught after five months on the run

Nearly five months after authorities say he ran away from a car crash on Maries County Road 613, Dennis Lawson has been taken into custody.

According to Maries County Sheriff Chris Heitman, Lawson was arrested after a foot chase Friday. He was wanted for felony probation violation, felony distribution of a controlled substance, several counts of unlawful possession of firearms, unlawful use of drug paraphernalia, leaving the scene of an accident and other charges.

Sheriff Heitman says upon his arrest, Lawson was found to be in possession of suspected methamphetamines and drug paraphernalia. Lawson faces additional charges for drug violations and resisting arrest.

Ronnie Lawson and April Wilson, both 29, were also arrested for hindering prosection. Authorities think they helped Dennis Lawson evade arrest.

Ronnie Lawson also had outstanding warrants for being a probation absconder stemming from stealing charges.
