Accused child sodomist Aaron Fisher sentenced to 15 years in prison
LACLEDE COUNTY —
Aaron Fisher pleaded guilty Friday to first-degree assault.
According to a statement from Prosecutor Benjamin Winfrey, Fisher admitted he knowingly caused serious physical injury to his five-month-old daughter in 2009.
The man pleaded guilty without an agreement with the state for a specified prison sentence leaving punishment up to the judge.
Following his plea, a sentence hearing was conducted where Fisher was sentenced to 15 years in prison, despite the prosecutor's request for 20.
The court specified that the sentence was separate from the jail time he served in a previous case for allegedly sodomizing his daughter.
Fisher was charged with sodomy in 2009 but the case was dismissed in 2015 for violating his speedy trial rights, even after the State appealed.
Instead, the State filed an assault charge against Fisher in 2016. Fisher was arrested in Ohio and extradited to Missouri.
His request for bond reduction was denied and the case was transferred to Laclede County after a request of a change of venue.
