Columbia traffic stop yields marijuana, resisting arrest charges

Two Columbia men are facing charges after a traffic stop turned suspect chase on Saturday afternoon.

The Boone County Sheriff's Department says they initiated a traffic stop just after 1:30 p.m. because of a license violation.

The vehicle was slow to yield and when it finally stopped on Isherwood Drive a passenger, 25-year-old Deandre ONeal, ran from the scene.

While fleeing he dropped individually packaged marijuana.

The driver, 25-year-old Matthew Prince, was apprehended without incident.

A K9 unit tracked ONeal to a residence on the 3100 block of Mexico Gravel Road. There he was apprehended without incident.

Prince was booked on driving while suspended and failure to yield to an emergency vehicle.

ONeal was booked on possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute, resisting arrest and for an outstanding parole violation.
