More than 100 people gathered outside the Boone County Courthouse in Columbia Sunday for the Rally for Dreamers event.

Dreamers are people brought to the U.S. as undocumented immigrants at a young age, protected under The Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program.

The program allows certain privileges for these immigrants like a temporary work visa and a driver's license. To qualify, immigrants must have had arrived in the U.S. before the age of 16 and have no criminal record.

One week from Monday marks the deadline for an estimated 700,000 DACA Dreamers to renew their documentation. The DACA recipients were allowed to renew their documentation every two years.

DACA is estimated to affect 3,300 Missourians, according to the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services.

"I believe we are all dreamers, and they need our help," a speaker at the event said.

President Trump said the March 5 deadline will stand unless Congress passes new legislation.
