Columbia Public Schools name finalists for superintendent

The Columbia Board of Education has named two finalists in their search for the next superintendent of Columbia Public Schools.

The board finished their first round of interviews Tuesday, narrowing down the field from four to two.

In a message sent to school district employees Christine King, the president of the School Board, announced that Dr. Dred Scott and Dr. Peter Stiepleman were the final candidates.

Dr. Scott is currently the deputy superintendent for the Independence School District, and Dr. Stiepleman is the assistant superintendent for elementary education for Columbia Public Schools.

In January Chris Belcher announced his retirement as superintendent. His last day in the position is June 30th.

A Meet and Greet will be held on Tuesday, March 11th, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Aslin Administration Building, 1818 W. Worley Street. The event will also include a moderated question and answer session. The public is welcome to attend.
