Columbia murder suspect released from hospital

Bond has been set at $1,000,000 for Edwards.

A Columbia man facing 2nd degree murder charges was released from a local hospital Wednesday.

22-year-old Darrius Kendall Edwards was taken to the Boone County Jail around 7:00 p.m.

Edwards faces charges in connection with the shooting death of Derrick Brookins, 44, after a botched armed robbery on April 22nd.

Columbia Police say Edwards, Brookins, and Deshai Richardson, 23, tried to rob a man at gunpoint inside his West Texas Avenue apartment. Edwards and Brookins were both shot during a struggle.

Bond has been set at $1,000,000 for Edwards.
