Columbia man arrested for knife burglary

26-year-old Vincent Barney was arrested late Thursday night in connection with a burglary in Columbia.

A 26-year-old Columbia man was arrested late Thursday night in connection with a burglary.

At 9:45 Tuesday night, police responded to a burglary in the 1000 block of Garth Avenue.

A female victim said Vincent Barney knocked on her front door. After she refused to open the door and told Barney to leave, he then walked to the south side of the home and forced his way through a basement window.

Barney then grabbed two kitchen knives from the counter. After the victim yelled at him to leave, Barney left with the knives.

Thursday night, officers spotted Barney in the area of Fir Place and Larch Court.

Police searched Barney and found two bags of marijuana.

Barney was arrested for first-degree burglary with a bond of $25,000, resisting arrest with a bond of $4,500 and distribution of a controlled substance with a bond of $25,000.
