A Columbia man is in jail after a vehicle pursuit in Boone County.
23-year-old Joshua Harrington was arrested Sunday after leading Boone County sheriff??s deputies on a brief vehicle pursuit Saturday afternoon.
The Boone County Sheriff??s Department initiated a traffic stop near the 1600-block of Olympic Boulevard around 2:12 p.m. on Saturday. The deputy was familiar with Harrington and knew he had an active warrant issued for his arrest.
After initially stopping, Harrington sped away from the officer. The pursuit proceeded to Rice Road, but the Sheriff??s Department says the pursuit ended due to Harrington??s speed and dangerous driving.
Harrington drove through two reflective markers and into an open field near the intersection of Rice Road and Shamrock Drive. He then abandoned his vehicle in the field, but was not captured.
Harrington was arrested Sunday morning without incident at his home in the 100 block of Moonglow Lane. He is charged with resisting arrest, leaving the scene of an accident and operating a motor vehicle in a careless and imprudent manner. He is currently being held in the Boone County Jail with a bond of $6,000.
