Columbia's Harmony Bends disc golf course in Strawn Park was rated the number one course in the world this week by dgcoursereview.com. The website's database pulls from 7,000 courses world-wide.

Harmony Bends is the newest of 5 courses spread out across Columbia. A fitting location for a sport picking up steam at area schools.

"It's become very popular with college kids," Mizzou grad Brendon Sexe said. "I think it's very good for Columbia and I'm glad to see them making new courses."

Sexe played the course for the first time Wednesday evening.

"It's very nice! High quality, very easy to read, and very fun."

Columbia Parks & Rec said Harmony Bends was designed by world-renowned disc golf course designer John Houck. The department said Houck's goal was to make the course number one in Missouri and one of the top 10 courses in the country.

He got a little more than that.
