      Columbia coffee shop robbed at gunpoint

      At about 5:30 a.m. Friday officers went to Kaldi's Coffeehouse at 29 S. Ninth Street for a report of an armed robbery.

      UPDATE October 18, 2013--

      An arrest has been made in the Kaldi's Coffeehouse robbery that took place earlier in October.

      Columbia Police were contacted by the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department that they had arrested 47-year-old Anthony Paine on the outstanding warrants of first degree robbery and armed criminal action.

      His bond has been set at $300,000.00.

      ORIGINAL STORY October 4, 2013--Columbia police are investigating an armed robbery at a coffee shop downtown. At about 5:30 a.m. Friday officers went to Kaldi's Coffeehouse at 29 S. Ninth Street for a report of an armed robbery. Officers said a man went into the store through the back door after an employee had opened it for another co-worker. The robber pointed a handgun and the employee and demanded money. After getting an undisclosed amount of cash he left the shop headed toward Cherry and 8 th Street. The robber was described as a black man, about 30-years-old, 6??1??, stocky build, bald with glasses and was last seen wearing a tank top and shorts.
