A trial date is set for a former Richland assistant girls basketball coach charged with having sexual contact with a student.
The case was just moved from Pulaski to Phelps County on a change of venue, and trial set for August 19th for Trevor D. Franklin.
The Rolla Daily News reported in March, when the charges were filed, that incidents allegedly happened last November during the playing season.
The coach and the girl exchanged thousands of text messages and he told the girl he was planning to leave his wife for her. According to the paper, the victim told investigators she was given Franklin's cell phone number during basketball season in order to ask him questions concerning the sport. An exchange of text messages between the student and Franklin began on November 15 and continued through November 30. More than 4,300 messages were shared during that time period with more than 400 more sent to the victim by Franklin than she sent to him.
The school district told the paper the 26 year old from Stoutland stopped working at the school last November.
