      Central Methodist University on lockdown, police search for possible gunman

      The campus of Central Methodist University is on lockdown after a report of a gunman on campus.

      UPDATE - 12:52 a.m. - The lockdown at Central Methodist University has been lifted. Campus security reports "all clear".

      ORIGINAL STORY: Central Methodist University is on lockdown after a report of a gunman on campus.

      According to Dale Johnson of campus security, someone from a disconnected number called Fayette Police around 10:30 p.m. and reported a gunman on campus. They said someone in a white shirt was walking around campus with a gun.

      Police and campus security put the campus on lockdown and began searching for the gunman. As of 12:35 a.m., officers are almost done sweeping the campus. Johnson said they have not found any suspects or heard any other reports of a sighting.

      Until police are finished sweeping the area, the campus remains on lockdown. We will provide updates as soon as they become available.
