Cape Girardeau church nominated for register

A church in Cape Girardeau has been nominated for listing in the National Register of Historic Places.
The Southeast Missourian reports (http://bit.ly/HiWxaE ) that St. James AME Church is one of 12 Missouri nominees to be considered for listing in the National Register of Historic Places. Other nominees include the Neely Elementary School in St. Joseph and the Rainey Funeral Home in Marshfield.
The Missouri Department of Natural Resources says the Missouri Advisory Council on Historic Preservation will consider nominations for the National Register on Nov. 8 in Jefferson City. The meeting is open to the public.
The DNR says about 55 historic buildings are represented in the nominations, and properties on the agenda include historic commercial and residential properties and districts.
