Busy 24 hours for tow truck drivers

At the peak of demand, drivers with Columbiaâ??s Tiger Towing were more than 20 cars behind schedule.

It??s been a busy 24 hours for tow truck drivers.

Hundreds of Mid-Missouri motorists called for their help as they slid off icy roads.

At the peak of demand, drivers with Columbia??s Tiger Towing were more than 20 cars behind schedule.

Most of their customers were patient during the slick conditions.

Tow truck drivers responded mostly to one vehicle accidents involving stuck cars on icy streets and parking lots.

Tiger Towing owner Dave Debates said, ??We??ve seen some pretty hard crashes. There was one on a parking lot off of Clark Lane someone slid over there and almost went over a retaining wall. It was a pretty nasty wreck. There has been a lot of slide offs on the side of the streets and by the highway and things like that.??

Debates said his crews are caught up at this hour but expects more calls tonight as the ice still covers many highways, roads and streets.
