Boone County deputies and detectives randomly checked addresses of registered sex offenders to ensure compliance with state and federal laws on Wednesday.
About 70 locations were investigated and several offenders were found violating the terms of their registration although no arrests were made.
Convicted sex offenders are required to register at the sheriff??s department periodically and provide a current, valid address along with a DNA swab and other personal information.
Many offenders were not living at the address they claimed as their current residence and the sheriff??s department will continue to investigate and make necessary arrests.
Offenders that were not home at the time of the initial visit can expect follow-up contact.
The sheriff??s department is committed to enforcing the mandates of Sex Offender Registration laws. Violators will be subject to arrest and prosecution.
