Customers of Consolidated Water in Southern Boone County are being advised to boil their water until Tuesday due to a water main break.
According to the water district, customers south of Highway H are affected, including those in Hartsburg, Wilton, Englewood, and Claysville.
Officials say the water main broke on a large transmission pipe at about 8:30 Thursday evening. Crews are flushing and monitoring disinfectant levels in the area.
Customers are advised to boil water vigorously for at least three minutes before drinking, brushing teeth, or preparing food.
Do not use ice from an automatic icemaker, and disinfect dishes with water containing a teaspoon of bleach per gallon of water.
The boil order is in effect until noon Tuesday.
