      Authorities catch man wanted for numerous crimes

      Roy Shields, Jr., 24, was arrested for outstanding warrants Thursday evening at the Motel 6 located at 3402 I-70 Drive Southeast.

      A 24-year-old Columbia man was arrested for outstanding warrants Thursday evening at the Motel 6 located at 3402 I-70 Drive Southeast.

      Roy Shields, Jr., was arrested for the following:

      - Use/possession of drug paraphernalia, $500 bond for digital scales- Two felony warrants for stealing, each with a $4,500 bond (Boone County)- Felony warrant for burglary, $20,000 bond (Callaway County)- Misdemeanor warrant for driving under suspension, $500 bond- Misdemeanor warrant for driving while revoked, $2,000 bond (Callaway County)- First-degree burglary, bond to be set- Second-degree burglary, $4,500 bond

      On February 5 at 1 p.m., Boone County authorities went to the 1300 block of Look Out Court for a report of a theft from a vehicle. Shields had entered the residence without permission, and the property owner told authorities he noticed his handgun was gone from his vehicle, which was parked in the driveway, after Shields left.

      When asked by the property owner about the missing firearm, Shields admitted to taking it and returned the handgun.

      On April 17 at 5:32 p.m., authorities went to the Wingate Hotel for a report of a burglary. Shields had apparently entered a guest's room without permission while the guest was inside, then went into another room and stole money.

      During Thursday's arrest, Shields admitted to thefts from three separate hotel rooms.
