Arrests made in theft of Haiti donation jar

LIBERTY, Mo. (AP) -- Liberty police say two people have been charged in the theft of a donation jar for Haiti earthquake victims.

North Kansas City Police arrested the two suspects late Tuesday at a home after several members of the public tipped police to their identities.

The theft gained national attention when a surveillance tape at the restaurant showed a man and woman picking up the donation jar from the counter and walking out the door.

The Kansas City Star reports that Scott D. Case and Jessica B. McGannon were charged Wednesday with stealing the jar containing $30 to $40 from a Culver's restaurant in Liberty on Jan. 28.

Case's bond was set at $1,500, cash only. McGannon's bond was set at $200.
