An arrest was made Wednesday in a two-and-a-half year old murder case.
The Howard County Sheriff arrested 34-year-old Zack Jefferson for the murder of Jon Spurling. Jefferson is from Excello, Mo. in Macon County.
Spurling was found dead in his rural home west of Harrisburg in August of 2011. He died of a gunshot wound. When the leads grew cold, Spurling's family and friends started a reward fund to find his killer and a Facebook page to support their efforts.
A family member told KRCG 13 the suspect may have been questioned early in the investigation. Jefferson was married to a woman who was previously married to Spurling. The family believes a jealous rage may have been his motivation.
Howard County Sheriff Mike Neal said he will release more details on the case Thursday. He said making an arrest in Spurling's murder was his top priority.
