American Legion retires flags

Today is Flag Day when Americans proudly display their Stars and Stripes.
What do you do with your worn out flags?
The American Legion Post 229 of Lake Ozark held a Flag Retirement Ceremony at the Lake Ozark Christian Church outdoor chapel.
Various organizations presented flags that have flown over their facilities and have become unserviceable.
World War II Marine Veteran Howard Carlson, 99, blew taps at the ceremony.
Carlson said, â??It gives you goose bumps when you see something like that. At this stage of the game, I appreciate everything.â??
Post Commander Barlow Biggers said, â??It gets you pretty deep. I was in the military for 32 years.â??
While many Americans burn their old flags in barbeque pits, organizers say a flag retirement ceremony on Flag Day is a more dignified way of disposing Old Glory.
