Update: Friday, Feb. 24 at 7:00 p.m.:
Columbia police arrested the man they believe is responsible for two bank robberies this week.
It only took officers 16 minutes to apprehend Donald Clark Jr. near Old Highway 63 and Ammonette. Thatâ??s about an 8 minute walk from the site of Fridayâ??s robbery.
Police believe Clark walked into the Boone County National Bank on Paris at 2:30 p.m. Witnesses said he handed the teller a note demanding money. He never showed a gun and left on foot with cash.
Investigators believe Clark also is responsible for the bank robbery at Landmark Bank on North Garth on Thursday. The suspect description and method of robbery were very similar.
Clark does not face charges at this time.
Columbia police are investigating a second bank robbery in as many days.
Fridayâ??s robbery happened at the Boone County National Bank at 1916 Paris Road. Witnesses said a white male entered the bank at 2:30 p.m. and handed the teller a note demanding money. The thief did not show a weapon. He left on foot with cash.
Hereâ??s the suspect description:
-White male-Between 5â??10 and 6â??1-160-170 pounds-Scruffy facial hair-Wearing a hooded jacket
The suspect description and method of robbery is very similar to the bank robbery that happened Thursday at Landmark Bank on North Garth. However, police said the investigation into Fridayâ??s robbery is too early to tell whether the two incidents are connected.
Investigators are still reviewing surveillance video to get a better description of the suspect. They hope to have photos from the surveillance video soon.
If anyone has any information about this robbery or saw anything suspicious youâ??re urged to call the Columbia Police Department or CrimeStoppers at (573) 875-TIPS to remain anonymous.
