23 sexually-violent predators coming to Fulton State Hospital

Missouri mental health experts say more attention to sex offenders is coming at the expense of the severely mentally ill.

The Department of Mental Health plans to provide more space to a growing number of sex criminals.

But that means taking hospital beds from somewhere else.

The Kansas City Star says the state this week is moving 23 sexually-violent predators to Fulton State Hospital from a treatment center in Farmington.

About two-dozen non-violent offenders at fulton are being moved to the Center for Behavioral Medicine in Kansas City to make room for the transfers.
