Last weekend was a busy one for Milo and me, but also very special. For the first time my boyfriend, aka Milo TMs daddy I guess you could say, got to join us on an adventure!
Jason is extremely busy studying for the first round of medical school boards, so free time isn TMt in his vocabulary. But Saturday was just too beautiful of a day for him not to take a couple hours off.
We TMve been anxiously waiting for a great weekend day to take Milo to the dog park for the very first time. We got him in the winter and since then we just haven TMt had a free, or gorgeous, weekend to do so.
Saturday was a perfect day. It was warm with a nice breeze and not a cloud in the sky, which meant TONS of dogs at the park.
We decided to go to Twin Lakes in Columbia. I TMd say there were about 50 dogs there throughout our time at the park| from small dachshunds to giant mastiffs. It TMs a great park with a big lake, benches, shade, lots of area to run, and a big mud pile| more on a that in a second.
But Milo wasn TMt necessary interested in playing with all the dogs| he preferred to hang with human friends. Instead of running up to a dog, 9 out of 10 times he went to the dog TMs owner. He absolutely LOVES people, which is a good thing most of the time, but we were kinda hoping he would mingle with the mutts a little more than he did.
It might have been a good thing in the end that he preferred to be petted by people. At one point, he started running around with a couple big dogs. It was all fun and games until they literally ran him over. Milo yelped, and then ran by our side. Poor little guy was pretty scared after that.
When a larger dog approached, he immediately rolled onto his back. I guess that was to show he wasn TMt trying to be aggressive? I TMm not sure; I TMm still new to this whole dog thing.
One thing I do know is that Milo is not a fan of water. Saturday we learned mud is no big deal though. He was running around with some bigger dogs again and they went straight into this huge mud pile. And Milo walked and rolled right in it. Of course I took pictures, but as I was clicking away we were screaming nooooooo.
I thought we were prepared for the park| I had water for him, a blanket, toys, and even a little food. We did not anticipate him getting caked in mud however. So, a word of advice| bring a towel! Or two! We definitely needed it.
Moving on to this weekend, it TMs looking like another gorgeous one in mid-Missouri! I TMm not sure exactly what we TMll do or where we TMll go| any suggestions? Whatever we end up doing, I TMll be sure to take plenty of pictures and share them next week!
Stay tuned for more!
