19-year-old in hospital after shooting incident in Jefferson City
JEFFERSON CITY —
A 19-year-old has been admitted into the hospital with non-life threatening injuries after a shots fired incident in Jefferson City.
Jefferson City police responded to calls of shots heard at approximately 9 p.m. Wednesday at the 200 block of Center Street. Witnesses told law enforcement that a passenger sped off westbound on East High Street, according to a JCPD release.
Shortly after, JCPD received a call of a gunshot wound victim at Capital Region Hospital. Officers responded to the hospital and learned that the victim was a 19-year-old Jefferson City resident. He was treated for a non-life threatening gunshot wound.
The Jefferson City Criminal Investigations Section was called and is investigating the shooting. At this time, the man is not cooperating fully with investigators, according to the release. There is not enough information available to police to identify a suspect.
