Tue, 21 May 2013 19:03:15 GMT — Columbia Police asked for emergency assistance Monday nigh twhen they pulled over a vehicle that had been reported stolen. When a nearby deputy responded to scene, officers were chasing a man and a juvenile near Highway 763 and Boone Industrial Drive. The two suspects ran in different directions, and the deputy chased one of the two. The deputy caught him, but the man - 18-year-old Quaemonn Wilkerson - sprayed the deputy in the face with tear gas. The deputy used his taser, but Wilkerson sprayed more tear gas. The deputy then used another taser strike and subdued him. Wilkerson is now awaiting bond to be set on charges of second-degree assault of a law enforcement officer, armed criminal action and resisting arrest. The other suspect, a 16-year-old male, was caught in the area by Columbia Police and turned over to juvenile authorities on charges of tampering and resisting arrest.
