15-year-old driver crashes van, kills teen passenger
Mon, 01 Jul 2013 15:03:12 GMT — An Iberia teen was killed early Saturday morning in a car crash in Miller County. According to Highway Patrol crash reports, 15-year-old Jacob Ponder was illegally driving a mini-van on Curry Road just east of Highway U. The reports indicate that a little after midnight the van went off the left side of the road, through two fences and flipped over. His passenger, Collin Colvin, 15, was taken to Lake Regional Hospital where he was pronounced dead. According to Fancher-Rekus Funeral Homes, â??Collin enjoyed fishing and hunting and volunteered as a Junior Fire Fighter with the Brumley Fire Protection District and was also a member of the FFA.â?? Visitation for Colvin will be on Wednesday from 1 to 3 p.m., with services immediately following at 3 p.m. at Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia.
