Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon is making his case for a special legislative session on tax incentives benefiting a Ford assembly plant.
Nixon planned to speak Tuesday to a Columbia factory that makes axles for Ford Motor Co. He also planned to stress the importance of automotive jobs at a Northland Regional Chamber of Commerce luncheon in Kansas City.
The governor is considering calling a special session starting June 28 on legislation providing incentives for companies that make factory improvements for new products.
Missouri officials are trying to entice Ford to make its next generation of trucks and sport utility vehicles at its Claycomo factory in suburban Kansas City.
A similar bill failed to pass during the regular session that ended last month.
