Missouri Senate approves additional spending for year
Sat, 16 Mar 2013 00:53:30 GMT — The Missouri Senate has approved almost $220 million in additional spending for the current fiscal year, which runs through June.A large portion of the new spending is federal money that various state departments have received through grants. The Senate approved a $14 million increase to help reimburse school districts for "high needs" children from Missouri lottery revenue.Funding was not set aside for a supplemental budget when the operating budget was approved last May. There is money to pay for a supplemental budget because state revenues have been higher than initially expected.Senators voted 34-0 Thursday to send the measure back to the House for another vote before it can go to the governor. Supplemental budget is HB14.
